Latest artist impressions will be on display at pop-up information booths
Locals are encouraged to visit a pop-up information booth over the coming weeks to talk directly to new Bundaberg Hospital project representatives about their new hospital.
The project team will be on hand to provide updates on design and early works activities and answer any questions the community has about the project. The latest artist impressions will also be on display giving locals a glimpse into what their new hospital may look like.
Pop-up information booths will be held at the following locations and times, giving locals access to the project team at a time that suits them:
- Bundaberg Hospital, 273 Bourbong Street, Bundaberg
- Wednesday, 14 August 2024 between 10am and 2pm
- Thursday, 29 August 2024 between 10am and 2pm
- Wednesday, 11 September 2024 between 10am and 1pm
- Bundaberg Library, 49 Woondooma Street, Bundaberg
- Wednesday, 21 August 2024 between 9.30am-1pm
- Wednesday, 4 September 2024 between 9.30am-1pm
- Wednesday, 18 September 2024 between 9.30am-1pm
- Shalom Markets, Shalom Catholic College, Fitzgerald Street, Bundaberg
- Sunday, 15 September 2024 between 6am and 12pm.
Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service Chief Executive Debbie Carroll said she encouraged locals to visit one of the information booths to learn more about the project.
“Whether you’re a staff member, consumer, carer, visitor or you just have a general interest in the project, it’s an opportunity to ask questions and share feedback,” Ms Carroll said.
“With a lot of the design work occurring behind the scenes with staff and consumers, we felt it important to have a visual presence so the broader community can see how their new hospital is taking shape.
“Not only will the new hospital offer greater capacity to care for many more locally, but it will also provide enhanced access to more specialised services, equipment and technology.
“Let’s also not forget that we’ll also be taking advantage of using part of the existing hospital for some specialist outpatient appointments and day health services that are not urgent.
“We’ve certainly got a healthier future ahead, that’s for sure.”
The new hospital will deliver 320 overnight beds for the Wide Bay region, including medical, surgical, maternity, children’s and mental health treatment facilities.
Wide Bay residents can also expect more emergency department (ED) beds, a satellite medical imaging department in the ED, as well as new operating theatres including cardiac catheter lab capability and a larger range of diagnostic services and consult rooms.
The new hospital will support a rooftop helipad, enabling patients to be transferred directly from the roof to the emergency department, intensive care unit or operating theatres.

CIMIC Group’s CPB Contractors was announced as the successful Managing Contractor to lead the design stage (Stage 1) of the $1.2 billion project in July 2023.
CPB Contractors must deliver a value for money guaranteed price for the project before main works construction begins in Stage 2.
