The Paediatrics Ward at Bundaberg Hospital has been transformed into a festive wonderland this Christmas, thanks to the creativity and community spirit of St Luke’s Anglican School students.

Inspired by the WBHHS Christmas Sustainable Decoration Competition, nurses on the ward reached out to the primary school for support, and the response was nothing short of magical.

The students eagerly embraced the opportunity, crafting a range of decorations that now brighten the ward.

Among the highlights, a young inpatient joined in by creating delicate snowflakes and angels, while their classmates at school made stars from recycled wish lists and worksheets. The ingenuity didn’t stop there; decorations include bottle top ornaments, gingerbread men cut from cardboard, and a stunning Christmas tree adorned with individualised handprints.

The nurses were thrilled to showcase the decorations, each with its own unique story.

The ward’s door welcomes visitors with its own festive tale, reflecting the shared effort and love poured into this project.

It’s a testament to what can be achieved when community and creativity come together to celebrate the season.
