Willy and Di Paes are familiar faces across the Fraser Coast and this month they shared some extra sweet Christmas cheer with Maryborough Hospital staff.
Willy and Di have been spreading the Christmas spirit across the Fraser Coast for a long time now – first in their ‘apprenticeship’ as elves, before graduating to their current roles as Santa and Mrs Claus.
Santa and Mrs Claus visited the wards of Maryborough Hospital throughout December, caroling in the halls, and handing out chocolate to the hardworking staff as part of WBHHS’s workplace wellbeing initiatives.
Joining the Saint Mary’s School Choir patients across the wards cheered and danced, even those being wheeled into surgery.
Willy, who will be wearing his special red suit at Station Square until Christmas Eve said, “I love the smiles and expressions on people’s faces when you do it – It’s just a great thing to do.”
Di recognises the importance of giving back to the community. Both she and Willy have worked in health and disability services, so they understand how hard it can be for staff who are working during the festive period.
