In a festive show of appreciation, hospital volunteers brought smiles and sweet treats to staff across Maryborough and Hervey Bay Hospitals as part of a staff wellbeing initiative.
The initiative, led by the Hospital Wellness Group, saw chocolates generously donated by Fresh and Save distributed to staff to recognise their hard work and dedication.
In Hervey Bay, volunteer Neville Arkinstall delighted staff by dressing up as Santa Claus, spreading cheer as he handed out chocolates.
At Maryborough Hospital, volunteers Di and Willy Paes embraced the holiday spirit as Mr and Mrs Claus, sharing treats and warm wishes with staff.
Wellness Group Chairperson Stephen Bell highlighted the importance of acknowledging staff efforts, especially during busy periods.
“Our staff consistently go above and beyond to care for our community, and this was a small way to show our gratitude,” he said.
“We know the work can be challenging, and sometimes a simple gesture can make a big difference to someone’s day.”
Stephen said the handout would not have been possible without the generosity from the community.
“We are so grateful to Fresh and Save for their generous donation and the invaluable support from our volunteers,” he said.
“Their willingness to step up and bring joy to others is something we truly appreciate.”
“At the end of the day, it’s about fostering a culture where staff feel seen, supported, and celebrated.”
