Wide Bay Regional Medical Pathway (RMP) team has done the health service proud after receiving a highly commended certificate at the 2024 Queensland Health Awards for Excellence.

The team has been recognised in the highly competitive 'Prioritising our People' category, highlighting their dedication to improving healthcare outcomes in the region.

The Regional Medical Pathway Project Team has consistently demonstrated excellence and innovation in their work.

The Regional Medical Pathway (RMP) Project Team addresses regional medical workforce challenges through an innovative end-to-end medical education pathway.

The team enhances workforce nurturing and reform, significantly improving the attraction and retention of medical officers in Wide Bay.

The Medical Education and Wellbeing Registrar role ensures smooth transitions for medical students into the workforce with holistic development through mentorship, career guidance and wellbeing education.

Their efforts have now been acknowledged at a state level, reflecting the significant impact they have made on the community.

This achievement is a testament to the hard work and commitment of the entire RMP team.

The recognition they have received is well-deserved, and it is wonderful to see their contributions celebrated in such a prominent forum.

The team was proudly supported at the awards ceremony held at Brisbane City Hall by Chief Executive Debbie Carroll, Board Chair Peta Jamieson, Acting Executive Director of Medical Services and Director of the RMP Professor Alan Sandford AM, Bundaberg Hospital Director of Clinical Training Dr. Vanessa Greig, Medical Education and Wellbeing Registrar Dr. Emma Hodge, RMP Project Manager Wide Bay Alita Cause, RMP Project Manager for CQHHS Caitlin Kirkman and current RMP Project Manager Wide Bay Jo McDougall.

The RMP team was overjoyed to receive the 'Highly Commended' honour at the awards.

This recognition comes amidst a highly competitive field of worthy finalists.

The award category was won by First Nations Leadership Program from Clinical Planning and Service Strategy, Department of Health.
