How do you describe what you do?
I am a porter / wardsman, I assist in patient handling and patient transfers and in house movement and delivery of goods around the hospital.
What’s best about your job?
The patients and staff I come into contact with and being able to assist in their care.
What was your path into health care?
I wanted a change in career, with my agricultural background and experience I started in grounds and gardens and then I was moved into the porterage department and have loved both roles.
What does being part of a team mean to you?
Working together to achieve a high quality of patient care.
When you’re not at work, you are…
Restoring vintage agricultural equipment ie: tractors pumps and engines
What do you enjoy about living in Wide Bay?
The laid back family life, seeing family and friends and the fact there is so much to see in ones own backyard.
Tell us a fun fact about you.
I love all things old and began to restore engines and tractors when I was about 10 years old, that lead me into a fitting and turning apprenticeship
What song are you listening to most right now?
Anything 1930’s – 1980’s I love Glen Miller, but have been listening to a lot of Duran Duran.
