How do you describe what you do?
As an electrician in a hospital, I ensure the electrical systems are safe, reliable, and compliant with health and safety standards. I maintain power supplies, emergency backup systems, lighting, and medical equipment to ensure everything runs as smoothly as possible. This includes ensuring critical devices stay powered, performing regular inspections, and handling repairs as needed.
What's best about your job?
One of the best parts of the job is knowing that our work directly impacts patient care and safety. There’s also the constant challenge of troubleshooting and solving problems in a high-stake environment, which can be really rewarding. Also, the people I work with are fun and enjoyable
What was your path into health care?
Listening to my fiancé, who’s a dietitian at the hospital, talk about how she helps patients was really motivating. It inspired me to be part of that system as well, so I could give back in my own way.
What does being part of a team mean to you?
Being part of a team means working towards a common goal, supporting each other’s strengths, and relying on one another. It’s about creating a sense of unity and shared purpose, where everyone’s role contributes to a larger impact, like patient care and safety.
When you're not at work, you are...
Fishing or catching up with friends, and spending quality time with family.
What do you enjoy about living in Wide Bay?
Being so close to a variety of activities is great. It's a perfect balance that makes it easy to enjoy both work and leisure.
